The Art of Bonsai

Bonsai trees originated from China before it was adopted by Japan. Around (206 BCE–220 CE), Chines gardeners would grow miniature trees to help create more of a natural scenery. They would do this in containers often referred to as penjing. Penjing means “tray landscape”. These miniature trees were often a symbol for meditation or nature and can also be often paired with spiritual beliefs. These miniature landscapes were also a symbol of beauty and balance while it was being kept by wealthier families in China.

Soon later on the art had reach to Japan which was renamed from miniature landscape, or penjing, to “Bonsai”. Today people all over the world practice the growth of penjing and bonsai in an artistic way to feel more rooted with nature.
